Playing with my new camera the Sony WX1/B That I am  just getting used to…..

I did a post on this camera a while back and thought I would share with you some shots I took recently.

I have been using it mostly for outdoor pictures as well as indoor shots of our listings.

It has a very wide angle 24mm lens which is perfect for Real Estate shots.

It shoots in low light as well without a flash and has amazing results…

I will share some of those shots with you at a later date.

In the meantime here are a few I took today on a beautiful fall day here in NJ.

And the last one is just the last vestiges of Fall for us here in NJ as most of the leaves have fallen but a few trees are still ablaze in all their glory….

The quaint little Borough of Westwood is known as the ”Hub”or center of the popular area of Bergen County called the “Pascack Valley”.  Located at the center of the county, the small town of Westwood has a trendy downtown business district bustling with stores, restaurants and a movie theater as well as a charming park with a gazebo all centering around the Westwood train station running to the Hoboken Path.  This weekend the Rail Line is being readied for an extension the Meadowlands Complex as well for the convenience of all who want to attend Football Games or the Garden State Fair coming in the Fall.

The main avenue appropriately named “Westwood Avenue” runs for four blocks with specialty shops, boutiques & eateries lining both sides of the street.  In addition the main roads that run from WestwoodAvenue are Kinderkamack Road and Broadway, each with more specialty shops.  This little town utilizes each of the intersecting streets of Center and Fairview to accommodate even more shops.  Don’t worry – there is plenty of parking to be had for all as on street metered parking is supplemented by parking lots available along the side streets.

The busy commuter will appreciate the convenience of the strong transportation infrastructure the town of Westwood has to offer it’s residents.  Conrail trains to Hoboken, NJ Transit bus service to Midtown New York City, Pascack Valley Rail line to Hoboken & Taxi Service is also available.

While the town of Westwood is a bustling and trendy hub, it is also a community enriched with history and tradition.  Town activities are centered around the Westwood Memorial Park and Gazebo located across from the Train Station at the corner of Broadway and Washington Avenue.

Here residents can not only enjoy the park benches but in the warmer months the town offers free concerts in the Park as well.  There are also activities throughout the borough that include something for everyone.  There are ponds, pathways, wooded areas as well as tennis courts, basketball courts, bicycle paths and playgrounds sprinkled throughout the community.

If you are moving to Westwood New Jersey with children, the Westwood school system is top notch with five elementary schools and a Junior/Senior High School serving the residents of Westwood as well as the neighboring Washington Township community.

The Westwood Library is not only a place to seek quiet time to learn but it’s also, like so many of the structures in the town of Westwood, is a thing of architectural beauty.

The Westwood Library is located on Park Avenue and offers programs and groups certain to appeal to all ages.

Looking for quiet time with nature?  Westwood has beautiful and peaceful green parks with walking paths and fountains rich in history!

At day’s end when there just isn’t enough time to prepare a meal,  Westwood Restaurants offer affordable dining where you can bring the entire family or enjoy a quiet meal for two.  Of Course what town doesn’t have a Starbucks in it these days..

The town of Westwood offers Volunteer Fire Department and Ambulance Corps. for the community-minded individuals who want to get involved on this level of service.

At the corner of Westwood & Harrington Avenue and Kinderkamack Road (also known as the Five Corners) proudly stands a Fireman’s Memorial.  This statue was dedicated to the past and present members of the Westwood Fire Department.  At the center of town stands a Veteran’s Memorial devoted to those whose lives were lost in service to their country.

Having grown up in the area, we both have fond memories of the town of Westwood New Jersey.   Walking down the avenue is a special treat!

Moving to Westwood New Jersey?  You are sure to find that “small town feel” combined with all the features that provide the sort of community that many wish to find when they seek to become “Home Owners”!

The popular town of Hillsdale has a special place in our hearts because Lisa and Robert first met at the Pascack Valley High School in Hillsdale some years ago. Having grown up in Hillsdale, Bob has a real love for this special Pascack Valley town. Bob’s grandfather had been a Builder in the early 1900′s and was the architect of several of the custom homes in town. Hillsdale was also home to the filming of several episodes of the old favorite T.V. show “Ed”. The quaint little town of Hillsdale has gained in popularity through the years for it’s small town friendly appeal and charming ambiance.

The Victorian Train Station (listed on both the National and NJ registers of Historic places) and red brick Traffic Booth are icons and the heart of this much sought after community. The Pascack Valley Train line carrying commuters to NYC via connecting routes is a big draw for the popular town. Other forms of public transportation are also available on the main routes.

Adjacent to the Train Station is the Veteran’s Park where, in warmer months, residents can pick up a Newspaper and sit and enjoy a snack from the bagel store, the Hot Dog stand, the Deli or any of the local conveniently located Hillsdale eateries.

The highly rated Pascack Valley High School located on Piermont Avenue in Hillsdale is attended by students from the town of Hillsdale as well as the neighboring town of River Vale – where Lisa grew up.

And what it looks like today….

The photos shown above is a comparison of what the school looked like back in the time when Bob and Lisa attended classes in the 70′s. Today the school has undergone major renovations to update and add space to accomodate the students comfortably as they transform education through the use and intergration of technology. The Elementary schools of Hillsdale consist of two grammar schools Ann Blanche Smith (K-4) on Hillsdale Avenue and Meadowbrook School (PK-4) on Piermont Avenue. While the middle school children attend George G. White (5-8) on Magnolia Avenue.

During the Summer months Beechwood Park on Hillsdale Avenue is the stage for concerts under the Band Shell as well as Ball Games and Picnics on the Field. Fun for the whole family. There are five playgrounds throughout the borough, as well as three Athletic Fields.

Feel like a refreshing swim?! Well, the Stonybrook Swim Club, covering 12 acres is the perfect cure for those Summertime Blues. Stonybrook offers it’s members four pools, one Olympic sized pool with Diving, and facilities such as Snack Bar and playground that insures fun for the whole family!
